Uhggg! First, we bowled shorthanded tonight, which means we still have to pay for those who didn’t show up. Fortunately for us, we have a system in place for just such emergencies. We have a nickel fine system. What is that you ask? If you fail to make a mark (either a strike or a spare) and leave the frame open, you owe the pot a nickel. Needless to say there was plenty to cover both bowlers who missed.
Second, since I resumed bowling this season, I have been awful. About the only thing that works is to fling the ball down the alley as hard as I can — believe it or not, it results in the most accurate throws of late. I bowled a 107, 107 and a 123 for a total of 332. Not anything to be proud of when your average is a 133.
Teamwise we lost two games and won one and lost total pins. One more week is left in the regular season and then the roll-off and then wait till next year.
Wow! I’ve now bowled two weeks in a row. Not that I bowled very good. I ended the night with a 355 set, which is well below my average and will bring it down some more. We got beat soundly tonight, but we had the best time of fellowship we have had this year.
Yes, it’s been several weeks and I bowled like it had been several weeks. Everything was out of sync. I ended up with a 333 set, which works out to a 111 average. That was the worst I have bowled since I started on a regular basis almost three years ago. The team lost 5 and won 2. Looks like we’ll drop at least to 5th place. I think it would have been better if I hadn’t even shown up…but you have days like that.
Yes, it has been awhile since I have bowled on a Monday night. I thought I would be rusty and if my average tonight is any indication, I was. I bowled a 125, 115 and 144, for a 384 set. This will bring my average down a few points I’m sure.
Team wise we did very well winning 5 points and losing two. As of the beginning of this evening we were tied for first place. That means we were undefeated for three weeks straight. We only lost one game tonight and that was by three pins. It appears that the worst we can be next week will be in second. Hopefully, I’ll get to bowing on a regular basis again and start working on my average.
The first half of the season is history — we finished in 11th place for the first half. Tonight we started the second half — the standings are reset. We bowled decent tonight and won all seven points — which means the worst we can be next week is tied for first place. It is also remotely possible to be in first place all by ourselves — we’ll see how that works out
I bowled by worst set (374) for a 125 average. There will be a slight correction to my 139 average coming into tonight. It is nice to win for once!
I’ve been trying to catch up from a very busy long weekend and I had to work at my bi-vocational job today. A friend of mine picked my up from work and took us both out to eat and then we went bowling. Let’s just say again that this year has been a character building year for all of us. Our team lost all 7 available points. I bowled a 117, 138 and 151 for a 406 and a 135 average which wasn’t too bad. Next week ends the first half and then we start all over again except that now our averages are established. My average should drop a pin or two because I started at a 140. Maybe it will be better next half 🙂
What can I say other than if our team continues at this pace, we will be in dead last by the end of the first half in two weeks. Tonight, we won 2 points and lost 5. Personally, I bowled three solid, consistent games — something I have been looking to accomplish. I rolled a 149, 131 and a 140 for a 420 set and a 140 average, which means going into next week my average should not go up or down since I started with a 140 average. This is about 8 to 10 pins better than my average last year. I came home happy that I was at least consistent tonight.
I’m finally getting back into the normal routine around here although this is going to be one of those busy weeks with something every day except Friday.
I was a little early for bowling, so I bowled a practice game. It’s good that one didn’t count, because I rolled a 106. So I’m glad I got the bad one out of the way. On paper we were pretty evenly matched with the other team with only a 20 pin handicap in our favor. But that didn’t help because we lost all 7 points tonight.
I had a personal season high 450 set (yea!) That means my 151, 132, and 167 averaged out to a 150 and will bring my average back up from a 138, which is 10 pins higher than last year at this time.
Even though we lost, we had a great time of fellowship which is one of the purposes of our Monday Night Church League bowling. We tried our best and we enjoyed each other’s company.
Our team started tonight in tenth place. The first game was encouraging because we beat them and knew that their handicap was higher than ours. I bowled a 150 and it looked good for me. The next game I bowled a 113 and then finished with a 143 for a 135 average for the night. This will pull my average down a few pins, but it looks like my average is settling in the high 130’s which is about 10 pins better than last year. I’m still getting use to my new ball which is really nice, but it behaves differently than the borrowed ball. We won the first game and lost the second and third but won total pins. Not too bad a night. I won’t be bowling next week, because I will be at Table Rock Wesleyan Camp, leading worship for FLAME. I am looking forward to that, which means I won’t bowl until the next week.
Tonight was an interesting night at bowling. We had to spot the other team 34 pins. We won the first two and lost the final game and lost total pins. I finished with a 388 for an average of 129 which will pull my season average down again. I started the night at 142. It was a great night of fellowship, especially with those from our team. I’m still figuring out my new ball, but it is nice having my own instead of borrowing.
No, I don’t have any lessons learned tonight, except that I kept having fun even though I didn’t bowl very well.
