Today is Pentecost. As I’ve already posted, Pentecost is considered to be the birthday of the church. We celebrated Pentecost at McCrae Brook this morning. This year marks the 79th birthday of McCrae Brook. Not only was it Pentecost, but because of the way the fiscal year works, it was also our Local Church Conference. This is the first LCC that I have chaired in over 7 years. I have done several things this year that I haven’t done, since we were on staff at our last church, including the annual statistical report. We had a good service this morning and a good Local Church Conference.
Today sort of marks the end of a very busy season that started back in March. All of the community ministerial events are done and most of the big events for the church are done for the summer. This was a different week, because I had to get ready for the Local Church Conference, but also we got home late on Tuesday from the funeral. It was nice that I didn’t have to drive a van this week.
You may notice that there wasn’t a Sunday Night Thoughts, that is because we were on the road and visiting some very good friends as we went to Virginia to attend and participate in the memorial service of our good friend Allen. It was an amazing service and a testimony to the work of God in Allen’s life and the influence that he had on so many people. It was good to see all our friends from our former church and on Monday night, we had an impromptu worship concert around the campfire at our friends house. That was a great time as we competed with the frogs and toads.
That’s about all I have for this week…have a great one!
