Another Sunday night and another Sunday night not writing from home. Tonight I am writing from our room at the Holiday Valley Resort in Ellicottville, NY. We are here for our District Pastor and Spouses Retreat. Thankfully the snow held off – we are under a Winter Storm Warning for 5 to 9 inches. It’s coming down hard now – we probably have two inches on the ground, but hey, we are at a ski resort, so they know how to deal with snow.
We had a great dinner – lots of food and then we had our opening session. There were some wonderful times of worship – the silly game that was fun – and some great teaching by Dr. Harry Wood. Dr. Wood taught on something that God has really been impressing on me and Pam of late and that is the anointing and the power of the Holy Spirit in the life of a minister. We ended the session praying with our c0-laborers in the district. It was wonderful.
It was sad to go home after seeing our grand daughter last week. It was a trip that almost reminded us of four years ago after visiting Ottawa to see Robert being born. It rained most of the way home – we even got into a little of freezing rain which wasn’t fun. By the time we got home it was 50 degrees with almost no snow on the ground – but never fear, it came back, but we are almost in the same situation again.
It was a busy week once we got back, but we pressed through it and got ready for this morning. We had a wonderful spirit of worship as we gathered this morning. I spent some time in my message talking about the social issues and what the Wesleyan Church believes about them.
We are on retreat for a couple of days and then will be back to Eldred. I don’t need to be driving for the school as much this week, so I will be working on our Wesleyan Covenant Service for next week.
That’s about all I have. See you next week.
