Election Eve 2016

So here we are on the eve of the election of 2016 – many emotions are going through my mind.  I posted two things on Facebook today that I think are good – in light of tomorrow to post here.  The first is a prayer – an Eastern Orthodox Prayer:

Set our heart on fire with love for you, O Christ our God, that in its flame we may love you with all our heart, with all our mind, with all our soul, and with all our strength and our neighbors as ourselves, so that, keeping your commandments, we may glorify you, the giver of all good gifts.

The second is a prayer song from the pen of Matt Maher, Matt Redman, and Chris Tomlin.  It uses an ancient phrase that the church has used for centuries “Kyrie Eleison.” Simply translated it means “Lord have mercy!”  Instead of the normal video, I am posting a lyric video – I love the simple arrangement and this simple prayer – “Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy.”  What a comforting thought as I lay my head down this evening.

Lord, have mercy
Christ, have mercy
Hear our cry and heal our land
Let kindness lead us to repentance
Bring us back again For Your name is great and Your heart is grace
Kyrie Eleison
Over all You reign You alone can save
Kyrie Eleison
Lord have mercy,
Christ have mercy on us now
[x2]

Who is this God who pardons all our sin
So ready to forgive You delight to show Your mercy
Who is this God who pardons all our sin
So ready to forgive You delight to show Your mercy

For Your name is great and Your heart is grace
Kyrie Eleison
Over all You reign You alone can save
Kyrie Eleison
Lord have mercy,
Christ have mercy on us now
