Wow! It’s May 1st. The last few days have really brought us the April showers – which means May flowers aren’t far behind. Tonight I write a bit in the draggy mood. It’s been a very intense 72 hours – most of those days during the last 72 hours I was await for 18 of 24 hours and worked close to 30 hours. Let’s just say I’ve been recovering all day – and tomorrow it all starts again. The weekends are just way too short right now. Believe it or not, “I’m not complaining”…to quote a favorite songwriter…”it just needs explaining.” (Kerry Livgren – On the Other Side) which as I write I am listening to what I have heard as a near perfect album (yes, I still refer to them as albums.)
The album I am listening to is AD’s “Art of the State.” Except for the very experimental “We Are the Men,” there is not a bad song on the album. AD was a product of Kerry Livgren (Keyboards/Guitars) and Dave Hope (Bass) after they left the band Kansas. In addition to Livgren and Hope, Michael Gleason (Vocals/Keyboards/Guitars) and Warren Ham (Vocals/Sax/Flute/Harmonica) were added to the band – Gleason and Ham both auditioned to replace Steve Walsh when he left Kansas. AD was rounded out on percussion by Dennis Holt. It seems some of the best “Christian” bands of the 80’s were short lived (Prodigal, AD, Vision.) Anyway, one of the things that I have done in the last year is set my bass up next to the computer and I make a regular thing of playing along on my bass. Sometimes it’s interesting how much I remember and interesting how much I’ve forgotten – and yet my ear training kicks in and I can get parts of the music that haven’t played in a long time.
So I was worn out, but I am glad that God is never worn out. This morning, the Holy Spirit helped me in a way that I never expected. The musical section of our worship service wasn’t me – but the Holy Spirit working through me as I led worship – it was pretty amazing as the songs and the scripture melded into one.
This afternoon I collapsed – hopefully I’ll head to sleep soon get some sleep and get ready tomorrow. We are down to less than 90 days before our move to Eldred, PA. We have been praying as we get closer that God would give us the direction and vision that He wants for McCrae Brook Wesleyan Church. We would appreciate your prayers for direction and for strength for me as we begin to pack.
That’s about all I have for this week – have a great one!
