A couple of weeks ago I was listening to the radio and a song came on that I had never heard before. The name of the song was “Clean” by Natalie Grant. A couple days later I heard the story behind the song
“Her song “Clean,” which now has over a million views on Facebook, was written after a conversation with her friend who confessed that she suffered from a lot of abuse. Grant said she was so burdened by her friend’s story that she wrote the song in 20 minutes.
“I really honestly feel like I was just truly holding the pen – that God breathed this message into my life and put it unto the wings of a melody,” she poetically explained.”
This song spoke to me as a person who knows people in my family who have been abused by others. I have seen the damage that abuse can do on a person. I know how some of those people cannot even look at themselves in the mirror. They feel like they look a mess and someone who will never be good enough again. They sometimes feel that there is no way anyone even God could love them. This song brings hope when someone feels there no hope for them again and they will never feel clean.
