Who will follow God’s wisdom?

As we look at our world today, we hear the word enlighten to define those who think they are wise. It is said that we as a human race are more enlightened than another period in history. This is an interesting thought – if we are more enlightened than in anytime in our history then why is world looking like a mess? The reason is what we think to be enlightened is more excepting of sinful practice. It is enlighten to say homosexual behavior is ok — Killing a baby is fine — not judging other for their sin behavior is called tolerance.  This are the ideal that have been taught it our world for centuries. But in the eyes of God this is foolishness. God has made it this way because know that as humans we would never know his wisdom. I Corinthians 1:20-23

So where does this leave the philosophers, the scholars, and the world’s brilliant debaters? God has made the wisdom of this world look foolish.Since God in his wisdom saw to it that the world would never know him through human wisdom, he has used our foolish preaching to save those who believe. It is foolish to the Jews, who ask for signs from heaven. And it is foolish to the Greeks, who seek human wisdom. So when we preach that Christ was crucified, the Jews are offended and the Gentiles say it’s all nonsense.

Which is interesting because back in Genesis 3 when Satan tempts Adam and Eve he tells them that they will become as wise as God.

“You won’t die!” the serpent replied to the woman. “God knows that your eyes will be opened as soon as you eat it, and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil.” Genesis 3:4-5

Yet in a moment they realize their wisdom became the opposite of God’s wisdom at the moment they bit the apple. When we follow our wisdom, it will destroy us . Just look at our country as an example. For years we have left our Christian foundation and have followed the enlightenment of the world.  Those who still stand up for the Christians beliefs that our country was founded on are considered foolish. Which is fine, because we are following God’s wisdom and so we are wise. Do not fall for the world’s lie about wisdom. God has united those who follow his wisdom with Christ. Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 1:30-31

God has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made him to be wisdom itself. Christ made us right with God; he made us pure and holy, and he freed us from sin. Therefore, as the Scriptures say, “If you want to boast, boast only about the Lord.”
