I was almost so tired that I almost posted a blank post. “Why am I so tired?” you ask. Earlier this week, I agreed to help out a co-worker who needed a shift covered. It was a closing shift and it involved doing the dishes. Little did I know that I would get out at 1 AM on Sunday morning. The part that I forgot is that the time also changed, so it was more like getting out at 2. It took me a 1/2 hour to get home and then another 1/2 to fall asleep. Needless to say that my body is still recovering from that.
There haven’t been too many nights of late that I have been up at that hour. I used to do that all the time, but because of getting up early, my body clock has changed. Over the last few years, I have been up at that time – a couple of lock-ins, a trip to pick up our missions team. But it took a toll on me this time. Let’s just say that I’m a little banged up at the moment.
The good news is that I don’t have to be up real early tomorrow morning. I plan to be up early enough to go for a run and then in for a mid-shift at Chick-fil-A. Because I was tired, I didn’t plug my guitar in to the system properly. I wondered why it didn’t sound right this morning. Halfway through the service (during the preaching) I figured it out. It was a good service despite my feeling tired.
I would continue to ask for your prayers. We have decided to go candidate at a church and will be doing that the first weekend of April. I will give you more details later, but at this time I ask for your prayers…
That’s about all my tired brain can put out at the moment. I do have a couple of plans for the blog. 1) I am planning on reposting (rewriting) a series of posts on my music/worship/pastoral journey, including writing two chapters from the last seven years. Also, I have decided to put out some music resources for smaller churches. How do you take those songs written for big bands and big congregations and make them friendly for smaller and more traditional congregations. Instead of the Monday morning worship videos from others, I will be starting my own posts and sharing some of my favorites – why I chose them, and how I make them more congregationally friendly. I’ll probably start that in a month or two..
Have a great week!
