Today is Saturday, so that means it must be time for another running update. Here on the 9th day of January, I have gotten in 4 runs, so it appears that I have been getting out every other day. For the month and the year I have 20 miles. So I am 1% to my goal. All four runs have felt very good. Today, for the second time this year, I went out and did some speedwork. I am really beginning to enjoy these little speedwork session. It seems I am growing stronger with each one. My long run is now up to six miles and I am hoping to stretch that out to 7 miles on Monday. My schedule changed for this upcoming week, so I’m trying to figure out how to make it all work. I’m hoping to close in on 20 miles for the week, although that would double my current mileage.
I tried something different this morning – I walked 800 meters then ran 800 meters – at least for the first three miles. The next 1600 meters was at a walk and then I ran the last 1600 meters. 1600 meters is almost a mile and I ran that in 8:31. That is the fastest I have run a mile in a long time. I am going to continue to do the speedwork and try to lose these extra pounds and that should make me faster. Pressing On!
