I know I’ve said this before, but I am really feeling like I’m back on track. This was a good week of running and walking. For the first time in several weeks, I topped 20 miles…YES! It was a combination of running and walking but – right now it is working.
I pulled the quote above because yesterday after work, I debated and debated whether or not I should run. I told myself I wouldn’t regret running but if I didn’t run I would regret it. I am glad I went out for the run yesterday even though it was on tired legs.
This morning I went out to the track and did some speed work. This is something that was sadly missing in my workout routine until I pulled my hamstring a few weeks ago. To show the difference, a few weeks ago when I did a session like this it took 57 minutes. Today I was under 54 minutes. I was excited about several things today – for one nothing hurt and it felt like I could push – something I haven’t been able to do lately. I had several laps under 2 minutes which equates to a sub 8 min/mile. One of those laps was a blazing (for me) 1:54 which would translate to a 7:36 min/mile if I could keep that pace. I would love to be able to do some consistent laps at that pace. If I keep with the speed work, I can see that happening. If the weather cooperates this week, I should have another good week even with the Christmas holiday coming up.
That’s about it for this week – Pressing On!
