This morning I was on my way home from my run and turned on the radio. I tried to tune in the local KLOVE affiliate, but was a bit out of range, so I pushed the preset for SpiritFM which plays a very similar mix of music. As I listened the second verse of Blessings by Laura Story.
We pray for wisdom, Your voice to hear
We cry in anger when we cannot feel You near
We doubt Your goodness, we doubt Your love
As if every promise from Your Word is not enough
And all the while You hear each desperate plea
And long that we’d have faith to believe
As I listened to the lyrics, I resonated with the song writer. These weeks have been tough – as we have prayed for wisdom and God’s direction. There are times when God has felt far away for both Pam and I – there are times when we have doubted His love and/or his goodness — and I have had to be reminded of the promises in his Word.
While I don’t claim to know all what God has planned for us during this season, I do know that He is working His plan in our lives. He has not failed to provide and we continue to trust God for his provisions.
I love the affirmation in the chorus of this song
‘Cause what if your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if the thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You’re near
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise
Today I am very thankful for God’s mercies in disguise.
