Sunday Night Thoughts

Sunday Night Thoughts

I’m Back

Some how I managed to miss two weeks in a row.  That’s very strange considering that up until now I had never missed a Sunday Night Thoughts.  Yes, there was the rare occurrence of this post on a Monday morning, afternoon or evening, but in the nine years of posting, I never missed it once and last week it happened for the second time.

While I’m Waiting

As most of my dear readers know, we resigned from the staff of Parkway Wesleyan Church several months ago.  It’s been seven weeks since our last Sunday of leading worship and leading children there.  I will admit that it has been an interesting journey.  We do have our resumes out at several churches and are currently waiting to hear back from search committees.

So what do you do in the meantime….

It seems that this was part of God’s timing.  We were able to make an emergency trip to Pennsylvania to help my mom and dad and several weeks later we returned for a day or two of R and R and to get away.

One Sunday we attended a local church not apart of denomination – that was a great service.  In the meantime, we have been assisting at Waynesboro Wesleyan Church.  This small Wesleyan church is on the other side of the valley and is pastored by Pastor Craig Horton.  Pastor Craig and Vilene have been a great encouragement over the past few weeks and they themselves have endured some incredible circumstances.  Because of a death in the family, I was able to preach, not once but twice in the last couple of weeks.  We thank the congregation of Waynesboro Wesleyan for taking us under there wing and letting us help and invade their congregation as we await the Lord’s direction.

God’s Provision

If you’ve ever been in a situation like this, you know that it can test the limits of the family structure.  I have taken a pretty serious cut in salary, but grateful for the job that I had at Chick-fil-A before we resigned.  I know it is only a temporary situation.  Here is the awesome thing – God provides.  I feel a little bit like Elijah – when he was being fed by the ravens. God is taking care of us and we are being provided for – Praise the Lord – for He deserves all the glory. More on that later this week.

Sunday Set List

Just so I remember what songs we have done, here is a list of the songs we sang this morning:

  • Lord, I Lift Your Name On High
  • Your Grace Is Enough
  • Come Thou Fount
  • ‘Tis So Sweet to Trust In Jesus
  • Grace That Is Greater Than All Our Sin (Chorus only)

Keeping the Creative Juices Flowing

Stay tuned because this week I had a couple ideas for blog posts.  Hopefully, I’ll be able to write one or two on Tuesday night.

I hope you all have a great week and carpe diem (Make the most of the day)
