From the depths of despair, O Lord,
I call for your help.
2 Hear my cry, O Lord.
Pay attention to my prayer.
3 Lord, if you kept a record of our sins,
who, O Lord, could ever survive?
4 But you offer forgiveness,
that we might learn to fear you.
5 I am counting on the Lord;
yes, I am counting on him.
I have put my hope in his word.
6 I long for the Lord
more than sentries long for the dawn,
yes, more than sentries long for the dawn.
7 O Israel, hope in the Lord;
for with the Lord there is unfailing love.
His redemption overflows.
8 He himself will redeem Israel
from every kind of sin.
I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits,
and in his word I put my hope. (Psalm 130:5 – NIV)
This verse pretty much sums up our life at the moment. Tonight’s scripture is going to serve as my Sunday Night Thoughts post as well. We were away this weekend in Pennsylvania and got to see my mom and dad again. They are doing well. We decided yesterday that we were going to go to Seyfert Camp in Birdsboro, PA this morning for church. Seyfert Camp is an independent holiness camp that was part of the Evangelical Christian Church until they merged with the Wesleyans several years ago. The musicians were friends of ours from several years back and they were of some great encouragement today. It’s interesting that this passage is about waiting and putting our hope in God’s word.
The speaker this morning spoke about the bread – and by that he meant the Word of God. It is in God’s Word that we put our hope and our trust, but we also put our trust in the Word made flesh – He is Emmanuel – He is God with us. And so tonight we had a great trip home – stopped at Waffle House for dinner and had lunch – I know, I know — we should have had breakfast – but the lunch was really good. We arrived home safely and now I need to go to bed and get ready for Chick-fil-A in the morning – 5:45 rolls around pretty early.
We would continue to covet your prayers. This week two opportunities came up that we are praying about and another opportunity that I need to check on came up today. Thank you for your love and prayers. We are seeking the Lord’s direction in all of this and continue to seize each day for all it is worth.
