This past week was an amazing week. I had the privilege of leading worship at FLAME. It was an amazing time. God met with us in a special way. The first morning we sang with flute, acoustic guitar, and electric guitar. I don’t think I ever had that combo at a FLAME before. The next day we added a bass guitar. We also had several singers and even had keyboards and a djimbe on one occasion. Like I said it was an amazing week and yet…it was a bittersweet week. I have been part of the FLAME movement for 14 years – led worship at 18 different events and have been to many more FLAME events as a visitor, staff and student.
I am eternally grateful to Wayne Richards. It’s been an amazing ride. Thank you for your friendship – your iron-sharpens-iron questions – your beautiful family – your words of wisdom. You have been a great encouragement – especially in difficult times. I know that you have shared some of your difficulties with me. God has worked in both of our lives during this time. Thank you!
There are others that are part of the FLAME movement: Our cooks, David and MaryLou, you mean more to me than I can put into words. Thank you for your caring, loving way that you minister to all of us. Thank you for all the great food. Larry and Sandra; you are amazing. Thank you for being part of the team. Earl and Kitty, thank you for all your encouragement and prayers through the years. We have had some great times together, including Pike’s Peak (I don’t think any of us will forget that ride) and Betsy Bell Park 🙂 .
Thank you to all of you and thank you to all my fellow students and alumni for the first 100 FLAMEs. Remember to keep pressing on – even when all looks dark – when you don’t think there’s a way out – even when times are good – keep persevering – keep pressing on!
