Sunday Night Thoughts

Sunday Night ThoughtsTonight I thought I’d do something a little different.  There have been a bunch of songs running through my head today and I thought I would share some thoughts with the songs.

Christ is Risen, He Is Risen Indeed!

Here is a new song from Keith and Kristyn Getty.  This pretty much sums up the day.  We had a wonderful resurrection celebration today at church.  It is the one time a year that we have two morning services.  Because we had some bad weather today (warm and rainy) we were inside for the first time in 4 years.  The sunrise service was wonderful, with a wonderful spirit as we sang songs of the resurrection and Pastor Barry preached a great resurrection message.

The first service was just the praise band and me leading worship, but it was nice for a change of pace and the congregation sang wonderfully.

Because He Lives!

I’ve sung this song many, many times, yet this morning it was different. Maybe because we just got home from Canada – seeing our grandson and Friday seeing Pam’s dad.  But the lyrics to this song really got to me this morning.  I ended up not singing most of the second verse, chorus and third verse.  What a wonderful song of worship written by Bill and Gloria Gaither

It has been a great week.  We had a wonderful time with Michael and Rebecca and Robert.  James and Robert really hit it off and I’m sure by June, they will be good friends.

Glorious Day!

Because Christ is risen, we have this wonderful promise – this wonderful hope that we one day too shall rise.  This was another song that we sang during our worship service this morning.  Before the song I shared my heart – I ended up talking more than I usually do – talking about the song and how it is the gospel (the Good News.) I love what Casting Crowns has done to this old gospel song.  I ended up sharing about my in-laws.  Next week marks the 5th anniversary of Pam’ mom, Shirley’s death.  I shared that because of the resurrection, that we have the very real hope of being reunited.  Without that hope, as Paul says in 1 Corinthians, we are to be pitied most of all.  What a glorious day it will be when we are reunited with the saints that have gone on before.

Christ is Risen!

So we finish where we started…the resurrection.  I love the bridge to this song. “O death where is your sting, O hell where is your victory, O church come stand in the light, Our God is not dead, He’s alive, He’s alive.!”

Roaring Like a Lion

This one is a bonus 🙂
