The Saving One

A great song that we learned last week at the Refuel Conference at Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg, VA

Five Years

I almost forgot.  Today marks my five year anniversary of blogging.  Who’d have thought when I started five years ago.  Yes, my posts have changed some over the last few years, but I am still enjoying it.  I am looking forward to the next five years.

Sunday Night Thoughts

Wow, what a weekend.  It has been great.  It was nice to have a few dry days after the rainy week we had.  This morning’s service was great.  We sang Christ Is Risen again and I was amazed as we sang the song.  The Holy Spirit was really moving among us and the team did a great job in leading worship.  We also had our local church conference today.  The ladies of the church made an amazing lunch then we commenced our business.  I thought we were all done after the conference but forgot about our Global Ministry Team this evening.  We have a great team and a great leader.  I am excited what is happening at Parkway in the area of missions.

This week finds me preparing for Vacation Bible School, which is only three weeks away.  I have some other things planned and look forward to what God is going to do this week.

The Stoning of Stephen

Fifth Sunday of Easter (May 22, 2011)

55 But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, gazed steadily into heaven and saw the glory of God, and he saw Jesus standing in the place of honor at God’s right hand. 56 And he told them, “Look, I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing in the place of honor at God’s right hand!”

57 Then they put their hands over their ears and began shouting. They rushed at him 58 and dragged him out of the city and began to stone him. His accusers took off their coats and laid them at the feet of a young man named Saul.

59 As they stoned him, Stephen prayed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” 60 He fell to his knees, shouting, “Lord, don’t charge them with this sin!” And with that, he died.
