That’s A Lot of Snow
If you’ve been following the blog this weekend, you will know that we got walloped with a major winter storm this past weekend. It was a big storm for any part of the country, with snowfall totals ranging from 21 inches to 28 inches. We got most of that 28 inches. The snow cancelled most church services for the day including Parkway’s. This was the biggest snow since the Blizzard of 1996 when Augusta County received 36 inches. I haven’t shoveled that much snow in a long time. Also this was the first time I’ve driven in snow like that in a while and I had to relearn things. The sun came out this morning and really helped the melting process — at least where there was blacktop showing through and there wasn’t much of that. The temp is well below freezing this evening, so anything that melted is frozen back over. The temp is suppose to be back up in the low thirties tomorrow, it should give us another melting cycle. This afternoon, we went out and the roads were still in rough shape. I even got the van stuck right around the corner from the house. Thankfully a nice couple helped us get reoriented and I took a second shot and made it right in.
Transitioning
Transitions has been this blog name since we moved to the Shenandoah Valley. I chose that name partially because we were in temporary housing until the church finished a beautiful, new parsonage. That parsonage is very near completion and we hope to move in right after Christmas. We spent some of the weekend packing boxes in preparation for the move. We moved here with the bare necessities, so there isn’t much to back. Most everything else is in storage. I can’t wait to be in our new surroundings and can’t wait till James can catch the bus to school. Once we move and get settled and get out the transitioning process, I’ll be changing the name of this blog to some thing that reflects the area we live. I haven’t quite figured out what that will be yet, but I have a couple of weeks.
Four Days till Christmas
It’s hard to believe Christmas is right around the corner. Like I said on Friday, I have enjoyed this Advent season more than I have in the last several. I am excited to be spending a few days relaxing with my family. I encourage you to remember the Reason for the Season — It is Jesus. Seize the Day!
