Winter Wonderland

As you have seen from the links to the pictures, the Shenandoah Valley has been turned into a winter wonderland.  We went shopping yesterday and it was almost magical as we were walking through the snow.  It was one of those wet, gloppy snows and like most snows, it turned cold once the snow stopped.  We woke up to 13 degrees this morning — the coldest of this young winter season.  If we got snow on December 5th, it looks like it could be a long winter.

I now have a challenge when it comes to running.  The local roads are now a mess.  By the end week, most of the snow should be gone, but they are telling us there’s a possibility of another round of bad weather during the week.  I’m hoping to get a run in tomorrow over at the park in Staunton, if they have the park road plowed.  Which they should because our Festival of Lights is currently in session.  Hopefully, we’ll be over there soon and take pictures and maybe even videos.

Cluster Meeting

Tomorrow, I’m hoping to meet with some of the pastors from our cluster.  We’re going to Shoney’s.  There was only going to be a few before the snow storm, hopefully it doesn’t scare away those who want to come.

Worshiping in God’s Outdoors

This morning our family worshiped in a little different way.  Our church services were cancelled because we have a steep driveway into the church and the driveway was very icy from the snow yesterday.  We drove around and took pictures of God’s beautiful creation (carefully watching for the black ice that had formed in places) while listening to Christmas music. It was a wonderful and different way to worship.

Closing Thoughts

Our normal source of wi-fi at the house was non-existent, so we are sitting at Arby’s using their free Wi-Fi.  It was nice to have a little snack.  This week, we are preparing for our student ministries Christmas musical next Sunday.  We are also awaiting our girls return home from school and working on preparing their favorite dishes while they are home.  James goes to school an hour later tomorrow…so we have a big week week ahead and there is much to do to build God’s Kingdom.  Seize the Day!

[Note:  This is what our set list would have been had we not been snowed out]
