For the fallen comrades of the 116th Regiment.
Well, the day finally came — my first 5K race. It was a chilly 30 degrees at race time — it’s now 50 which was the high for the last couple days. It was fun because the race was held in Gypsy Hill Park in Staunton, which is one of my favorite running places. There were quite a few runners and the start was very quick and all uphill. James and Pam were there to cheer me on — talk about Hebrews 12! I finished with a time of 36 minutes and 59 seconds — which because it was my first race — is a personal best. It’s also the fastest I’ve ever run three miles. Usually it takes me 39 to 42 minutes. What a great feeling!
Let me encourage you, if you’ve ever thought — there’s no way I could run — it’s possible, just 9 weeks ago, I was a couch potato and couldn’t even run a quarter of a mile at any speed. You will feel better and be less stressed — I know that I am feeling better and less stressed. Until later–-press on toward the goal!
