Exodus 3:1-10

The Call of God

Romans 12:3 — What the will of God is — How can I be sure?

Moses wrestled with the call of God.  God tells us four things.

  1. I have seen…
  2. I have heard…
  3. I am concerned…
  4. I have come down…

Moses was a special man with a special purpose, but he made two mistakes

  1. Worked out his problems in his own way
  2. Running away from situations — you can run but you can’t hide

The Burning Bush tells us:

  1. God can get our attention:
    1. D. L. Moody — Moses spent 40 years thinking he was somebody, 40 years learning he was nobody, and 40 years discovering what God was everything.
    2. God may use any means to get our attention
    3. Quit telling God what you want to do
    4. Listen to God — He will speak
  2. God can always get us to rely on Him
    1. Have you ever heard a bush speak?
    2. Has God ever called your name?
    3. C. K. Chesterton — “The world will not perish for lack of wonders, but for lack of wonder.”
    4. When you say you can’t to God, what you’re really saying is you won’t
    5. God takes the weak and foolish
    6. I have no ability but availability
  3. God can reveal His plan for our lives
    1. Jeremiah 29:11 — 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”

Here I am Lord — I’m Available
