One of the jobs I have at church is keeping the music in order for Dale. I typically do this once week. During Christmas I put it off for a few weeks because several Advent and Christmas carols were used multiple times. This Sunday I started to put the music away when Dale walked in to the office to see what I was doing. I told him I was “putting away Christmas” without thinking what I was saying. How many of us spend the Christmas season running around try to get things done without really thinking about what Christmas is all about and then a week or two after Christmas. We put it away and act like it never happened. As a Christian we should never really put away Christmas. We should live as if Christmas is every day. One of the things that Dale has mentioned several times this Christmas is that we cannot divorce the Christ in the manger from the Christ on the cross.

Another thing that came to mind after I made that statement is “what affect I had on others this past Christmas?” Did I point people to Christ? Did I make a difference in someone’s life? This was a hard Christmas for me, since it was the first Christmas without my mother. I spent most of it trying to forget it was Christmas, wishing I did not have to do the things that I had to do. The good thing is that as I Christian, I should never put Christmas away and I can spend the next year making a difference in another’s life.

To be continued…
