District Conference 2008 is over. It was a great conference. We had some great worship and our leaders helped cast vision for the next year. There was great fellowship. Our regional group of pastors met this afternoon for lunch and we had a great time and scheduled some events for later on in the year. [...]

I forgot to take my pen and paper to conference tonight, so I don’t have notes on tonight’s ordination service. I will be the first to say I like the new format. In previous years, ordination was sandwiched between the day’s business and worship at night. Tonight we had the service a bit more formal [...]

This morning we began District Conference. What’s really cool is that we began conference with communion. The Parkway Worship Team led us in worship again. Much more subdued than last night, but still excellent. It has been great to catch up with all my friends across the district. We have even gotten a chance to [...]

Like I mentioned below, we had a wonderful message brought to us by Dr. Anthony Graham at our Power Rally. Here are some key points that I picked up in his message: Be Filled With the Holy Spirit We are still living in the age of Pentecost The Holy Spirit’s presence is now in us [...]

This morning, I want to change things up a bit. Cleve is coming to read this morning’s scripture, which can be found in Matthew 13:1-9 and 18-23: 1 Later that same day Jesus left the house and sat beside the lake. 2 A large crowd soon gathered around him, so he got into a boat. [...]

Tonight was a special treat for us courtesy of the Martinsville/Henry County Chamber of Commerce. We have a college league baseball team in Martinsville. At the moment I can’t remember what league it is a part of, but the Chamber of Commerce made available complementary tickets. This was James and Rebecca’s first trip to a [...]

Today Anna and I went to the Shenandoah District Wesleyan Women Conference. The theme of the conference was Overcoming the Daily Grind. Anna and I went to a break away with Becky Reynolds (who is our District Superintendent’s wife.) She spoke on the best part of waking up with Jesus. In her talk, she talked [...]

I haven’t written much about my new job with The Salvation Army yet. At the beginning of June, the Lord opened the door for me to leave my position at Radioshack. Like I said in an earlier post, I enjoyed my eight years there. The door was opened by a meeting at a community yard [...]
