So many times in ministry, people complain about things that really do not matter in life. We have twelve year old girl at church who is getting over the feeling of guilt for something she had nothing to do with. Several weeks ago, a five-month old baby died at her home and she was not even there at the time when it happened. We have kids come to our church each week looking for love because they come from homes that are broken. We see these kids — we listen to them. Then, we hear from those people who talk about things that are not important. Yes, things are changing around us and sometimes they change in the church and it appears (at times) that the things they would like to keep the same are more important than lost people. Our goal in ministry is to care for the congregation we already have and to reach and take care of people who need to hear about Jesus. Sometimes that involves new methods, but that does not involve a new message. Dale was taking a look at several other blogs today and what some are preaching as the Good News is really scary. The gospel is this – Jesus came – Jesus died – Jesus rose – Jesus is coming again. We need to be effective as possible at reaching those who have never heard this wonderful news.
