Wow! What a great day. If you look at the post below, Rebecca took some pictures of Homecoming 2008. Preston Wesleyan Church celebrated 59 years of ministry today. Our special guest was one of our former pastors. We had 54 in worship today, which is a good number. It was great having that many and the singing was special this morning.
After church we had a great fellowship time together. The ladies at Preston really know how to cook. I was looking around before worship and thought, “We aren’t going to have much food!” I went up to prepare for worship. At the beginning of the service, I invited everyone to stay, even those who didn’t bring food. Pam and I were one of the last to go down and there was more than enough food. There was plenty, even enough for seconds and thirds. One of the cool things was the taco bar that we had. But for those who needed it, we had fried chicken too.
All of this belies the frustrating morning that happened before anyone got there. Wednesday night I had some difficulty getting the projector and laptop to sync up. When I finally did, there were some weird things happening on the screen. It was good enough to get us through the night. Last night, Anna and I experienced similar issues and this morning the computer refused to link-up at all with the projector. I walked up to the house and retrieved Rebecca’s laptop (It sync’ed up with the projector just fine.) Now, what was I going to do? I went in and grabbed the CD of our EasyWorship software and installed it on Rebecca’s laptop. I was still lacking the database of songs and pictures and videos. This is why I made trip #2 to the house to retrieve my USB drive, so that I could transfer the database and videos to EasyWorship. Fortunately, the background graphics transfer with the songs, so I didn’t have to transfer any pictures. I did have to remake the schedule, but that was relatively minor. Despite all this we had a great time of worship together.
After worship and our fellowship dinner, I came home and called the support number for Dell. It turns out the system board will need to be replaced. So Tuesday (probably) I will be sending my laptop in for warranty repair. This should fix the video problem and the SD card slot problem. In addition, I will be getting a new battery, that decided to go bad as well. Fortunately, Rebecca is home for the summer and I will be able to use her laptop until mine gets back. Have a great week! Carp Diem!
