I heard on the radio today that our wounds never are wasted. I thought about this for a while and decided it is true. Sometimes God puts events in our lives so we can help others. In the past month, I had special people in my life supporting me thought this tough time in my life. One of them was my friend, Gordon. His mother died three years ago. Not only is he a friend, but he is also a chaplain in the military, so he knows a little bit about this kind of stuff. Some of the saints of our church also had to make the same decision my family had to make about my mother. Just this week I had another chaplain who is a friend tell me about how he handled his father death two years ago. It was great that I had people who were willing to help me though this time in my life.
Not only did people help me in this time, but I have found myself helping people who have lost a loved one this past year work though their grief.
It is those events in life that help us grow and they are given to us to help each other. We should be ready to help others in their time of need. In this post-modern world people are more willing to take the help that we are giving them if we have experienced something they are going though.
