This morning I mentioned in my Worship Recap post that our youth led the service this morning. They did this all on their own with some guidance from one of our adults. One of the great things about a small church is that we can involve our youth. I know that I was raised in a small church until grade nine and had the chance to sing and play my trumpet. These are not opportunities those raised in bigger churches get. I think they were surprised how much work goes into preparing and leading a service. We were out way early, probably close to 20 minutes earlier than usual. It was weird for me because I was not involved in the planning and didn’t do much but play the guitar and close the service. They did a great job especially considering that this was the first time that many of them had done this.
This evening we continued our study through the Ten Commandments, working on commandment number six, “You shall not kill.” We had some great discussion. Several times the congregation had the answer before I even put it on the screen. Tonight, I am relaxing and getting ready for a new week. I’m applying for a job at our local Salvation Army tomorrow — it’s more in line with building the Kingdom than my current part time job.
This week Pam and I head to Central, SC to pick up Rebecca for the summer. So we have travel in our plans. Later this week, I have some big news that I’ll be sharing with you. Have a great week.
