Yesterday, we had a good day. It was fairly low key, being that we just got back, but there was a special presence as we worshiped. It seemed everywhere I turned last week there was mention of shepherds, so it was appropriate that the message was about the Good Shepherd, Jesus. I thought it was cool as we read the 23rd Psalm together yesterday. In a rare move, we read it in the King James. I also showed the video of our family singing at Shirley’s memorial service.
Last evening, we finished up the third commandment and took a look at the fourth commandment. What does it mean to keep the Sabbath holy? We keep it holy by resting (not doing the everyday things — save them for the other six days;) strengthening the family – since your resting — not doing the everyday things — take time to be with your family; spend time in fellowship with Christian brothers and sisters — worship with them — make worship a priority — make your schedule revolve around worship, not your worship revolve around your schedule; and finally keep it sacred — keep it special, which is related to point #1. In this way we honor the Lord’s Day — the day we celebrate the resurrection.
