When our girls were in Junior High and High School, I was the cool parent. I do not know why their friends thought Dale and I were the cool parents. We had more rules in our house then their friends’ parents but we were cool in their eyes. When Rebecca had her 16th birthday, her friends wanted to know where I bought some of my clothing. A couple weeks ago I decided to take James out for breakfast. We had to go to the bank and cash the birthday check he got from his grandparents. While we were at the bank I did the unthinkable, I talked to him in front of someone from his class at school. When we got to Mc Donald I was told that his friends did not know that I was even alive. I was a little upset because I had always been the cool mom. Which did not make any sense, because everyone has a mom who gave birth to him or her. I just did not understand why I was not cool in my son’s eyes. That is life, my job as a mother is not to be cool, but to raise our children in the ways of the Lord.
Lost My Coolness
