Sometimes, as a pastor’s wife, you have to see the humor in ministry. This past Monday I had one of those moments. Dale told me it was gone to be warm so I decided to wear my favorite T- shirt. OK, it is the only t-shirt that I wear out of the house. It is a t-shirt that I bought at Camp Lejuene and it has on it, United State Marines. Now for those who do not know me, my dream in life was to be a Marine – which didn’t happen. One of the reasons is I fell down a flight of stairs when I was a junior in High School and broke my neck in two places. So I still love the Marines but as much as I love the Marines and wanted to be a Marine; I never became one. I would never think of telling our friend Josh, who is a Marine Staff Sergeant, how to be a Marine and tell him what I think a Marine should act like.
Now, put this in view of ministry, every church we have been in has had women who have always dreamed of being the pastor’s wife and yet they think because they have dreamed about it, they have a right to tell me how I should act, dress, and behave like a pastor’s wife. I have to admit sometimes it does get old but it is also very funny to hear some of their suggestions. Doesn’t the Bible tell that laughter is good medicine?
