A Surprise Discovery

Since I have a rather small readership, I check about once a day, where my readers are coming from. Many of my readers come from google searches. During December, most of the searches focused on Christmas worship resources (responsive readings, lectionary readings, hanging of the greens), family nativity scenes, and the new baptist hymnal.

Today, I was looking to see if one of my regular readers had checked in lately (I only know you by your ISP name and city) when I came across a referral from Martinsville On Line, which is one of our local media concerns in Martinsville. I checked the link and on Bill Wyatt’s blog, was a link back to mine. I think that’s cool. Thanks, Bill for adding me to your blog roll.

Snow! Real Snow!

Now I know this is not exciting to you from the northland, but we got our first real snow, even though it was less than an inch, this year. This is a first for us, in that the snow fell and was not gone by noon. We call snow, manna because it is usually gone by noon. Tomorrow’s high will be 52, so it will be gone tomorrow. School was cancelled for Anna and James today and they will also be off tomorrow. I’m still not used to schools cancelling this early before the next day. Anna and James will have a long 6-day weekend, because they had planned days off Monday and Tuesday (it’s the end of the semester.) Rebecca called us and told us they had 4 inches in Central, SC and Southern Wesleyan was closed today as well. I worked today and the mall closed early at 5 PM.
Winter really is different here in the south. So since everyone is home for the evening and the town is shut down, I guess I just get comfortable and have a nice relaxing evening with the family.

After several weeks of relative quiet in the area of prayer requests, today brought in several. Cancer seems to be the word right now. There were several non-cancer related requests as well.

Mosaic was kind of different tonight. I can’t put my finger on it, but the students were strangely silent. Maybe they were in shock from my lack of hair. They were plenty talkative on the van, but during worship they didn’t talk (which is good) but they didn’t sing either. It was just a unique night, but you have that in student ministries. We had 19 show for the second week in a row, which is right around our average not including staff.

I think the students are expecting to have off tomorrow. I already received a call from Rebecca. They have close to an inch on the ground in Central, SC. We are expecting an inch of snow followed by sleet and freezing rain. It’s a very good chance that our students will have a long weekend. They have off on Monday and Tuesday as well.
