No Hair!

Yes, I had a fight with hairclippers this morning and they won. I have been taking care of my own hair for about 18 months, but this morning the hairclippers gave me a fit and the only way to fix it was to clean it all off. Lucky for me it will grow back, unfortunately we are having the some of the coldest weather we have seen in Martinsville in three winters. But even then it is mild compared to what they are getting up north. I can see the comments already. Take care

Where Is Home?

This is a hard question for many pastors’ kids and other people who move a lot, like military kids. I understand this question since I am not only a pastor kid, but a pastor’s wife too. If you ask me where my hometown is I would tell you Emmaus, PA because I lived there for thirteen years of my childhood. My parents moved away from there over 23 years ago and still I call it my hometown. When we go to Pennsylvania, we go to my parent’s house where they have been living for over seventeen years. Now Dale is different, home is the house that he moved in to when he was five years old. If you ask the girls where home is, they would say Marion or Fort Miller, since those are the places that they have lived the longest. James would say Fort Miller because he does not remember anywhere where else we have lived. Although when we first moved to Fort Miller, he kept asking when we were going back to our house, meaning our house in Flint.

The reason I write about this is that this year Becca is experienced something new during this holiday season. Her view of home is different this year. She came home to be with the family, yet in her heart a little bit of home is at Southern Wesleyan University, which is perfectly natural and a good sign that she is adjusting to college. Her biggest worry was that it would upset Dale and me. I explained to her that this was a part of the circle of life and there is a time when she needs to find place in her life — that she needed to have this feeling that home was no long mom and dad’s house. So where do you call home?

Monday Night Bowling

Yes, it has been awhile since I have bowled on a Monday night. I thought I would be rusty and if my average tonight is any indication, I was. I bowled a 125, 115 and 144, for a 384 set. This will bring my average down a few points I’m sure.

Team wise we did very well winning 5 points and losing two. As of the beginning of this evening we were tied for first place. That means we were undefeated for three weeks straight. We only lost one game tonight and that was by three pins. It appears that the worst we can be next week will be in second. Hopefully, I’ll get to bowing on a regular basis again and start working on my average.
