Caution: Political Opinions Ahead!
This is new territory for my blog. I typically steer clear of politics on this blog. Like I said at our board meeting tonight — I like to pick my battles — Political opinions I hold loosely to quote Keith Drury. I am more into building the Kingdom of God than the kingdom of politics. The following is something Pam came up today after visiting our county voter registration office. Pam and Rebecca went there to get an absentee ballot in preparation for Rebecca going back to school. They found out that Virginia is one of the last states to vote in the primaries, so we are:
Political Leftovers
Pam writes:
I have heard a lot of this term being used today. I think it is time to put on the table. We are tired of getting the leftovers during the primaries. We have always lived in states that are one of the last to vote in the Spring primaries, thus we get what’s left. Not that leftovers are bad, but who wants leftovers to be a steady diet? If we in the United States are to have the same right when we vote, then shouldn’t the primary vote for presidential candidates be on just one or two days? I think it is unfair that only some of the states have a field of candidates to choose and others just get the leftover field. For most voters the choice is made for you. Like it has been for us for the last several presidential primaries. We do not get a chance to vote from a field of candidates. So here’s a proposal — what about two days of voting — the smaller states would get the first day and the larger states would get to vote several weeks laterthe second day. It would be fair all voters.
Interesting idea!
