While my friend Mark, woke up to several inches of new fallen snow, with more on the way, we here on the Southside woke up to warm, clouds, fog, and rain. I’m sure glad Mark is getting a white Christmas.
Today we wrapped up our preparation for Christmas, as our youth presented a play called, “No Room.” They did a great job and we were out a good 15 minutes early.
One of the cool things that happened is we were able to give a couple of our families some Christmas gifts from the church.
We canceled this evening’s service, so that everyone could spend time with the family and then attend our Christmas Eve service tomorrow. We do an early (5:00 PM) service — so that we worship together first and then go to celebrate Christmas with our families. I really like the idea.
Tomorrow night we will have a Lesson and Carols service, which is a service built completely around 9 scriptures lessons each with a corresponding Christmas carol. This is one of two interactive services we have at Christmas. I enjoy having the people read the various scriptures and singing the carols.
Tomorrow is a long day — I have to work at Radioshack and then come home and lead the service and then we will have our family Christmas. I’m ready for Christmas. Are you?
