I think my wife Pam did a great job on her first article here. I’ve found out that she has secretly wanted to write for a long time, so I’m glad that she is now a part of the writing team. I know that there are a least two more posts in the works, so stay tuned.
My friend Mark over at Revitalize Your Church had a link a few weeks ago about dark Christmas movies and how the studios are making darker themed Christmas movies than they used to. [Here's the link to Mark's post] and [Here's the link to the article he references.] To sum up the article — the studios used to make films that were about redemption; now many studios show the darker side of Christmas without the redemption part or the are interested in deconstructing Christmas.
Where am I going with all this? For some, the season between Thanksgiving and New Year’s can be a dark and depressing time. For example, check out my friend Mark’s blog again [here]. A young wife and mother in his congregation died unexpectedly. My heart went out the Mark and the young family in this time of loss. For some reason (like Pam explained) losses are tougher at this time of year. As an aside, remember to pray for Mark as he ministers and pray that God would wrap his arms around this family during this time.
I mentioned yesterday, that I got a new CD and I am enjoying it a great deal. I mentioned that there is a dark section to the CD. What makes it all the more exciting is that’s not the end of the story — there is redemption for the man — there is redemption for us all. I think the CD does a great job of expressing the wide range of emotions that we as humans have. Yes, there will be dark times at times. But for those who hope in Christ — there is redemption
