It has been a good weekend — Yesterday, I had a rare day off on a Saturday and James and I set up our tree and put on the lights. In the afternoon, Pam, Anna, and James finished putting on the ornaments and then in the evening I took several of our students to Roanoke to a District Youth Rally to see Atlantic from Bethany Bible College. I think our students enjoyed it.
Today was a great day. One of the things that I have been doing during this series is preaching interspersed with music. Today’s was especially powerful — as I read the scripture from Luke 1, regarding Mary’s response to the announcement of Jesus’ birth — as I came to the Magnificat — we had it sung — from the CD “Do You See What I See.” It was powerful — then I presented Joseph’s story and finished with the song “This Is All I Have to Give.” It was an awesome service.
Tonight we had a missional service — what happens when service goes beyond the four walls of the church — so many times we think the service is what happens inside our four walls — but tonight, we went beyond and became the hands and feet of Jesus to others outside our four walls. Let’s just say it was cool. See the post below for more. It was a great day and it looks like tomorrow will be a long one, so i’m out. God bless.
