Well, the snow has stopped. There wasn’t much on the ground when it stopped anyway and what was on the ground was gone long before 10:00. Snow is sort of like manna around here — it’s gone by noon. Now we begin our preparation for Mosaic tonight — typically on Wednesday’s I like to share a worship video that I’ve found on YouTube. Today’s video is Lifesong by Casting Crowns. What a great way to live our life — To life our life to sign God’s name at the end of the day — we are the hands and feet of Jesus.

The First Snow

As my son James was getting ready for school, he looked out the window and said, “Is that snow or rain?” With a little investigation, we found out it was snow. It indeed is a rare thing for snow on the Southside before Christmas and it looks nothing like the picture to the left, still, it is snow none the less. There was a slight and I mean slight covering on the roofs and very little ground cover. I don’t know if the kids will get out of school early, if this was New York, I’d say no, but here, you just don’t know.
It was cold enough for me to don my winter jacket for the first time today and yet our lows are equal to Fort Miller highs this time of year. Later….

Ringing the Bells for Salvation Army

One of the signs that Christmas is near is the familiar sound of ringing bells and the red kettle. Our church is volunteering to ring bells at our local K-mart next Saturday. In addition, I’ve also made it possible to give an online donation both here and at our church’s website.

Salvation Army plays a key role in Martinsville and I appreciate what they do, even more so since my brother and his family are part of The Salvation Army. There are few organizations that I would give time like this on my blog, so I do consider it important and considering the way things are in Martinsville now — it’s important for our community.
