What a great weekend. My mom and dad arrived Thursday evening to watch our children while we went away to the Minister and Spouses Gathering. Like I said earlier, we had a great time and a great view from our room. It was great to renew acquaintences from our district. We hung around a few old friends and met some new friends. Last night, we got home and I had to go immediately into Sunday mode. Most of my sermon was already complete, but it needed some finishing touches. I got those done last night.
This morning I prepared for worship and looked over and practiced my sermon. Yes, I still practice my sermon. One of the reasons is that I manuscript the sermon for my sermon blog site and the church site. The manuscript serves as a guide and if you compare the manuscript to the audio, you will usually find some differences. I can find typos and other problems with the text by practicing and I usually like to know how long it will run. We had several out because of vacations or sickness or jobs (it was a race weekend, not one of the big races, but still a race weekend and several had to work it.) I think the message got a good response, but I’m not sure. This afternoon, we entertained my mom and dad and then we had a good service tonight. My mom and dad and I sang a trio for the people and they really enjoyed it. There was a wonderfully sweet spirit there; we prayed and then we looked at Ephesians 4:17 and forward. It was a good lesson and will pick it up in two weeks. Have a great week.
