Today was just one of those good, solid, average days. And that’s ok! Sometimes we think that every Sunday has to be a blowout Sunday — that it has to be better than the one before. Not for me — not anymore. Pam was substituting for the second Sunday in a row during Sunday School. She got to teach the “young adults.” The paradox to that is that Pam and I were the youngest people in the class. She did a great job. One of the things that I liked is that there was a lot of give and take and lots of discussion. It makes your job as a teacher much easier when there is discussion.
The worship service was good and during the service, several gave testimony of the great time our students had at a county-wide youth rally. Go youth! So many times we say that the youth are the future of the church. No Way! They are the present as much as we are. Several made first-time commitments and some made recommitments. In several weeks, there is another rally to get the students ready for See You at the Pole. It would make my heart warm to see our students involved in this, so be praying for us.

This evening, instead of having a regular service, we had an ice cream social. Before that, we invited our friends from NC over for some Teriyaki Pork Chops off the grill. This is a family favorite. We had a great time together as the teens from church arrived. Thanks to Vicky for bringing them. The teens asked if they could play some basketball, so we moved the church van
and played a game of horse. I was the second to last out, which was surprising, because I am not a basketball player. After that, I gave a short devotional and then we made ice cream sundaes. Today was about as beautiful a day as you’ll get

in Southern Virginia — no humidity and temps right around 80. Yes, a warm summer day in NY, but cool especially considering the last couple weeks. It was nice to put our ice cream in bowls and then go out on the back porch for fellowship.
As you can see, even the little ones enjoyed the ice cream. This is most definately a before picture. Let’s just say our young friend had to take a bath before he left our house!
After all our teens left, my son decided to play some soccer and kicked the ball into a drainage culvert. It was block by dirt on the downhill side, but we were able to excavate the ditch and get the ball out.
Thank you Lord for your provision today. Thank you for watching over us and giving us this day. Amen
