Well, like most of the south, Martinsville is in the midst of a heat wave. Today, we topped the century mark again again topping out at 102. Pam took a walk down to the church and back and came back huffing and puffing. She said that these temps are as bad as the -25 we used to experience in Fort Miller. I’ll admit that these temperatures are not comfortable. The air conditioning is getting a workout this week.
Today our church received the check that was a generous grant from our district to purchase a new laptop, software, projector and screen. Yes, the money is finally here. We’ve been waiting a few months. Tomorrow, I express the check off to Dell, to acquire the majority of the purchase. I’m hopeful the projector will still make it here for our Mosaic kick-off in two weeks. I am looking forward to retiring the Pentium 333 computer in my office.
We also had a good board meeting tonight. To avoid the heat and not run the A/C in the church too much, we met downstairs (which was nice and cool) in the church fellowship hall. It was a nice change of pace as well. I shared with the team that I really feel that we have some great days ahead of us. Do we have great challenges as we build the kingdom? Of course we do and we will continue to have challenges. James writes that challenges produce perserverance and perserverance helps us mature in Christ. It’s good to be part of the team at Preston Wesleyan Church.
