Happy Mother’s Day — I thank God for the wonderful heritage that was passed down to me by my mom. Matter of fact, I just got off the phone with her wishing her a wonderful day. We had two great services today. The Holy Spirit has been a wonderful guiding force in our services of late. I preached on the importance of joy and laughter in our lives during the morning worship time.
This evening, after a time of music and prayer, we continued discussing testimony as a corporate spiritual discipline. This is something that (in my opinion) we have left by the wayside in the church. Were there abuses in the past? Yes, but that’s like throwing the baby out with the bathwater. We even had a spontaneous testimony as part of our service this morning and it was great. As Drury mentions, stories relate well to people. We need to tell our story and churches need to give opportunity for people to tell their story. Next Sunday is our Homecoming Celebration and as part of the evening service next Sunday night, I’m planning on having some of our members share their story of how God changed them. Have a great week.
