Today was one of those fulfilling days in the ministry. It started out a little sluggish. In a very rare move, I didn’t roll out of bed until 8 AM. Usually, I am at the church by that time, but it was dark and gloomy and the bed was so nice and I was sleeping like a baby. Pam woke me up and we got the day started. After some coffee and donuts, and some other snacks left by the ladies yesterday, I was in much better shape.
We repeated several songs from last week’s service because they were new to our congregation and they fit well with the theme of the service and the next few weeks which is “The Hymns of Heaven.” I’m doing a series on the “hymn” fragments found in the book of Revelation. Today, I preached on Revelation 1:4-8. It was a great way to get the day started.
This evening before church, we had our monthly Ministry Leadership Team meeting. We have a great leadership team at Preston Wesleyan Church. There was a good spirit in the meeting and we got many things decided. All that in just one hour.
Following that we had a Celebration of Praise. This is a semi regular feature that allows each person to share in our evening worship service. They can participate with singing, playing an instrument, or both; reading a scripture; reading a poem or some other inspirational reading; participating in the congregational singing; and tonight we had a unique treat in an interpretive sign language dance. It really was beautiful. Following that I read from Romans 8:31-39 about God’s love. The service was great and I want to thank Vicky for putting it together and being led by the Holy Spirit.
Today was one of those cool days that you need to remember when things don’t go as well. Have a great week.
