Paul writes to the Philippian church that they should follow his example. Paul urges the church (the Philippian church and us) not only to follow his example but not to live as enemies of the cross. He says we should live as citizens of heaven and that we should stay true to the Lord. I’m using Luke’s story of the transfiguration (Luke 9:28-36) and Paul’s letter to the Philippian church as part of my sermon on Sunday.
My question is “Where are the Heroes?” I got the inspiration from an old song by Steve Camp by the same title. It was on the Fire and Ice album (yes, another golden moldy as my daughters call them.) I consider Paul a hero of the faith along with those listed in Hebrews 11. My challenge is for each one of us to be an example of what it means to be a follower of Jesus.
