Wow! God was good to us once again. Today was our Friend Day Celebration, while we didn’t come anywhere close to 100, we did have 66 which is about 20 more than usual. Several of our students brought there friends. I invited some of my friends but they didn’t come. There was a sweet presence in the service this morning. Thank you to the Ladies Ensemble who did a great job on “Oh, for a Thousand Tongues to Sing.” (No, not the Wesley hymn, but the Brooklyn Tabernacle version from a few years back.) That song set up our prayer time which has been the centerpiece of our service of late. My father-in-law did a great job preaching, giving us his testimony in the process. He was even able to wrangle in the students who like to talk! Then after church we had a wonderful dinner put together by the ladies of the church. Thank you especially to Mary, Gayle, and Rhonda for coordinating the effort.
We came back this evening to begin our Fall Summit (Revival Services.) We had a good crowd for a Sunday Evening. Country Rev (Dick Christman) preached on what sinks ships. Ships are designed to be around and on water — however what sinks a ship is when water is where it’s not suppose to be. Our lives as Christians are that way. Jesus prayed for his disciples in John 17. He knew that they would have to be around the world in order to be effective disciples. He prayed for protection for his disciples that they would avoid the things that sink us as Christians. That is something for all of us to remember. We are called to engage the world, but we can’t let they world get in and sink us.
Thank you God for giving us a wonderful day of ministry. You are good and your love endures forever.
