The picture to the left is one of the stained-glass windows that we have in our church. They depict the life of Christ. Most of the windows face toward the outside. Three of them, including this one, do not have a outside exposure. These windows can be lit up at anytime with the flip of a switch. It was quite cloudy this afternoon, so I wasn’t able to catch one of the outside exposure windows.

Today we continued our series, Lifesong Lessons. This series is teaching us how to become better worshipers. We are learning how to live a lifestyle of worship. Today, we looked at being an authentic worshiper; a worshiper who can “keep it real.” Jesus said, “The Father desires worshipers who can worship Him in spirit and in truth.” God doesn’t want plastic worshiper. Jesus warned the Pharisees about putting on false fronts. He called them hypocrites. The Greek word hypocrite means actor. How many times do we put on a false front or simply act the part everyone thinks we are? Sometimes we act the part because we know that’s how we are supposed to act. Sometimes we act that way so others and sometimes even well meaning Christians will judge us if we act the wrong way. Mark Hall of Casting Crowns writes this, “There are times that instead of being myself and exposing my own weakness and hurt, I portray a character of the person that I know I should be. But when I expose myself as weak and frail at times, it frees the Body of Christ to restore me as it should and invites others to unmask as well.” I asked yesterday, “What would happen if we could take off the mask and truly be ourselves; the people that Christ wants us to be?” Think about it.
